Immigration

If the immigration system isn’t working, let’s fix it instead of pointing fingers and building walls.  If we devoted a fraction of the resources we currently spend fighting illegal immigration to instead improve the system for legal immigration and naturalization, we could have a system that works, and that would remove incentives to cross the borders illegally. Until then, we must treat people with dignity, however they arrive in this country. Among other things, that means families stay together—period.

We must respect families and expand temporary protected status to folks who have left dangerous and unstable countries to seek out life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We can develop a naturalization process that does not take decades to complete. Let's de-incentivize undocumented immigration.

Developing and enhancing citizenship-through-service programs will attract the best and brightest minds from around the world and give them a way to earn their citizenship through public service.
