National Debt

The recent tax reform increased our national debt in the short and long term in order to give billions of dollars to corporate executives and shareholders. It ultimately won’t do anything to help you and me, and I’m deeply concerned about the debt we are going to leave to our children.

If we don’t develop a tax code that requires corporations and the super-rich to pay their fair share, Congress will eventually start trying to pay these debts out of Social Security funds. That’s fundamentally wrong, and I promise to do everything I can to make sure that the money you’ve paid into Social Security is there when you need it.
